Hotel and “CNOOC” Corporate HQ

Located on the shore of the Suzhou, near the Hongqiao International Airport, the Shanghai International Business Park is imbued with a strong and unique identity. Enclosed by buildings that form a rim around a large courtyard, the inner landscape courtyard is protected and secluded from urban elements such as noise.

The building describes a sculpture of individual buildings, separated from the bodies and connected at the base by a band. Its landscape is defined by sharp edges, outward boundaries, and a softness that opens inwards. The band at the base connects the headquarters of the CNOOC, an office building, and a five-star hotel— effectively blurring the different functions into a single unit.
